At a time when her daughter Palak is riding high on the success of Bijlee Bijlee, actor Shweta Tiwari, no newcomer to controversy, has been in the news again for adverse reasons.
At a press conference in Bhopal, Tuesday, the Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor, while speaking in the context of her upcoming the web series, made light of her co-star Sourabh Raaj Jain. He essays the role of a “bra fitter” in the project. It is significant to note that Sourabh gained popularity was mythological characters, particularly as Krishna in previous series.
Shweta was asked to comment on her screen journey to which she replied: “Ab toh Bhagwan meri bra ka size le rahein hain…” (Now God is taking the siz of my bra fittings)
Several people and political groups have condemned the statement for “hurting religious sentiments.” Interacting with the press Thursday, Narottam Mishra, Home Minister of Madhya Pradesh, informed that the Bhopal police has been directed to look into the matter.
On Friday, an FIR was registered against the actor at the Shyamla Hills police station in Bhopal for the same. Bhopal Police Commissioner Makrand Deouskar shared, “We have registered an FIR against actress Shweta Tiwari under the section 295 (A). The case was registered because she hurt religious sentiments through her comment at an event in the city. We will conduct an inquiry and take due course of action.”
Meanwhile actor Salil Acharya who was also present at the event, stated that the remark had been taken out of context.
