Madhur Rakheja has been offered a job by Microsoft. He is a B-tech student at the interdisciplinary institution UPES in Dehradun. The job offer is of Rs 50 lakh. Madhur, a bright student from the start, had a list of companies that he had hoped to get into. Microsoft has always been on that list , so he prepared accordingly for the organization. Besides Microsoft, Madhur had applied to many other businesses, from campus and off campus both. The other companies included Amazon, DE Shaw, Optum, Cognizant, Infosys, and others.
Why Madhur ended up choosing Microsoft over the other well- known companies has many reasons. At Microsoft, he has flexible working hours, a hefty salary, a part of Amazon’s shares, and an amiable work environment. He says that the work engineers do there has a major influence and good care of the staff is taken at Microsoft. Madhur is in awe over the fact how Microsoft endorses its employees to pursue their interests and indulge in their hobbies. It accepts people from different backgrounds.
Other than discounts on Microsoft products, other perks include cafes and dining options on the campus. One of his favourite perks is the Microsoft gym and fitness programme. “I have always been interested in technology and its potential to transform and impact millions of lives around the globe. I always wanted to be a part of something huge like this,” Madhur shares
He says he was taught the concepts in theory class, specifically in programming, and used the labs to put them into practice. Other than that, UPES gave them fantastic possibilities during this placement season, he says.
