Former Pakistan cricketer, Shoaib Malik, has announced his marriage to Pakistani actress, Sana Javed, amidst rumours of his divorce from Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza. Malik shared the news on Saturday via a social media post on X, formerly known as Twitter, accompanied by pictures from their wedding ceremony.
Speculations of Malik’s relationship with Javed had been circulating for some time, which were further fueled when the former Pakistan captain wished the actress on her birthday last year. Malik, 41, had also publicly supported Javed when she faced criticism for alleged rude behaviour towards juniors and makeup artists on set.
The news of Malik’s marriage to Javed came as a surprise, given the ongoing rumours of his divorce with Mirza. The couple had married in 2010 in a traditional Muslim ceremony in Hyderabad, followed by a Walima ceremony in Sialkot, Pakistan. They have a son, Izhaan, born in 2018.
While the reasons for their separation remain unknown, it is believed to have occurred around the first half of 2021. Despite this, the couple remained active on social media, regularly posting pictures and stories together. However, their social media activity decreased over time. Last year, they hosted a TV show, The Mirza Malik Show, on Spotify.
Earlier this week, Mirza shared a cryptic post on Instagram, reigniting divorce speculations. The post read, “Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard…”
This is Malik’s second marriage on record. Prior to his marriage to Mirza, Malik was reportedly married to Ayesha Siddiqui, a claim he denied. During his wedding to Mirza, allegations surfaced that he was already married. Malik dismissed the entire incident involving Ayesha as fraud. He had even sent a legal notice to Ayesha’s father, MA Siddiqui.
