The Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla will organise a two-day event on January 15-16, 2024, to celebrate the 76th Army Day and to educate the public about the Indian Army. The event, called ‘Know Your Army’, will be held at Annandale, the Army Heritage Museum, and the Ridge, and will feature various activities and displays.
The event will showcase the weapons and equipment of the Indian Army, as well as the audio and video movies depicting its history and valour. The children will get a chance to participate in a painting competition, an extempore speech competition, and a quiz, with exciting prizes to be won. The event will also provide information on how to join the Indian Army and serve the nation.
Army Day is observed every year on January 15 to mark the day when Field Marshal KM Cariappa became the first Indian Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in 1949. The event in Shimla is a unique opportunity for the people to learn more about the Indian Army and its achievements, and to pay tribute to its brave soldiers.
