The Spine Surgery team at the Shalby Hospital has come up with great advancements in the spine surgery sector that is both – digitally advanced and cost-effective.
An event was organised at Shalby hospital on September 28 at 3:00 pm where the Shalby team addressed the media and introduced their new Digital Operation Room (OR) for spine surgery. The event started off with a briefing on the new types of equipment added in this new OR.
Delegates present at the event included Dr Neeraj Vasavda, Dr Davy Jindal, and Dr Prateek Lodha – all of them being members of the Shalby hospital team and closely related to these new advancements.
The event covered several aspects of the new OR including :
- How digital surgeries will be the game-changer in spine surgery
- Importance of digital operations
- Key benefits of surgical navigation technology
The team has already done around 45 operations with this new OR and is claiming that the success ratio with this new technology to be 94-95 %. It is also cost-effective and there are only two machine setups like this in Gujarat.
Senior spine surgeon and HOD of the spine surgery department Dr Neeraj Vasavda stressed the fact that they have been successful in setting up facilities similar to facilities in western countries. “This journey began 10 years back and we feel proud for where we stand today.”
He further said, “Spine surgery is the youngest offspring of the Neuro and Orthopaedic surgery department. However, we use spine surgery as the last resort in treating spine-related problems”.
As per the Spine Surgeon Dr Prateek Lodha, the reason why this technology stands out is that it is cost-effective, and very few centres have this system. Moreover, it increases the safety of the patient to a great extent. ” If one has to properly treat a patient, one has to have a cutting-edge technology”.
The team also made a video presentation in which different technological pieces of equipment were showcased in detail. The event then was concluded with thanking Dr Nishita Shukla – the group COO at Shalby.
