Classics are forever. And living up the dictum comes Natrani Theatre’s rendition of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Staged by Midday from Surat, the play was staged at Natrani Amphitheatre, Sunday.
The plot, woven around four star-crossed lovers, is a comic fantasy with magical elements such as fairies and enchanted forests. “All in all, it is a witty examination of emotions such as love, jealousy, and marriage. However, the lovers must overcome obstacles and misunderstandings before finally being united in marriage,” shared Krishna Lavangwala, producer and director of the play.
The 18-member entourage kept the audience enthralled with their crisp performance. A word goes for the musical interludes which carefully retained the original flavour, not choosing to the go the Bolly way to gather populist hands.
Lead characters Puck, Oberon, Titania, Lysander, Demetrius and Hermia were well essayed by respective artistes. The costume designs were carefully crafted period pieces and brought alive the evening.
