New Delhi, December 13, 2023

In a reminder of the infamous attack on the Indian Parliament in 2001 by Afzal Guru, security forces today detected a breach at the heart of the nation’s democracy on the same date, 13th December. The incident has sparked concerns and raised questions about the vulnerability of one of the most secure locations in the country.

Security personnel at the Indian Parliament noticed an unauthorized intrusion, leading to heightened security measures and a swift response to neutralize any potential threat. The breach comes exactly 22 years after the devastating attack orchestrated by Afzal Guru and his associates.

The 2001 attack, which took place on the 13th of December, resulted in the tragic loss of several lives and left an indelible mark on the nation’s collective memory. Afzal Guru, who was subsequently convicted for his role in the attack, was executed in 2013. The events of that fateful day continue to serve as a somber reminder of the constant vigilance required to safeguard the democratic institutions of the country.

In the wake of today’s breach, security agencies have intensified their efforts to investigate the incident thoroughly. Preliminary reports suggest that the intruder was swiftly apprehended, and there are no reports of casualties or injuries. The motives behind the breach are still under investigation, and authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ascertain the individual’s identity and any potential links to extremist groups.

Police have detained Sagar Sharma, the man who is the prime accused in today’s security breach at the Parliament. Sources have said that he was carrying a visitor pass with the name of Pratap Simha, who is a BJP MP from Mysuru. Delhi Police have named Sharma has the prime accused in the Security Breach. Along with Sharma, Neelam Kaur was detained by the police for the breach.

A man and a woman have been detained for protesting outside the Parliament building carrying cans that emitted a yellowish smoke, police said. Identified as Neelam (42) and Amol Shinde (25), the two were detained in front of Transport Bhawan, police officials said, adding that further probe is underway.

Government officials have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to enhance security protocols and prevent any future breaches. The incident has also reignited discussions about the need for constant upgrades in security infrastructure to adapt to evolving threats.
