Rajasthan Royals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 61 runs in an Indian Premier League match on Tuesday. Chasing 211, SRH got off to the worst possible start as Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult combined to rattle the top order. Skipper Kane Williamson was dismissed on 2, while Rahul Tripathi and Nicholas Pooran failed to open their innings.
Skipper Sanju Samson top-scored with a 55 off 27 balls and Devdutt Padikkal made 41 in 29 deliveries after opener Jos Buttler laid the foundation with a 28-ball 35 for the Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna – who shared the spoils all through the PowerPlay – took the fizz out of the Sunriser’s chase by leaving them in tatters at 14/3 after six overs. Both the pacers bowled a maiden each, with Prasidh accounting for Williamson in the second over.
Prasidh then got rid of his former Knight Riders teammate Rahul Tripathi with a perfect ball that rose after pitching in the channel. When Boult found Nicholas Pooran plumb in front of the wickets, the writing was on the wall.
Umran Malik dismissed Buttler on 35 off 28 balls. Samson completed his half-century but was dismissed soon on 55(27) by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shimron Hetmyer then took charge and played a late cameo of 32 in just 13 deliveries, helping his side post 210/6 on the board. In response, SRH could only manage 149/7 in their 20 overs.
