CCTV footage of an unidentified intruder who repeatedly stabbed Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence in Bandra early Thursday morning has been recovered, and 10 police teams have been formed to investigate the incident.
Preliminary investigations reveal the intruder likely entered the 12th-floor flat in the Satguru Sharan building earlier in the night without forcing entry. Around 2:30 am, the attacker assaulted Khan and his house-help, who raised the alarm and sustained a minor knife injury during the scuffle.
After the attack, the intruder fled the scene using the building’s fire escape staircase, with CCTV visuals later traced on the sixth floor.
Dixit Gedam, DCP Zone 9, confirmed, “The accused used a fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan’s house. It appears to be a robbery attempt. We are working to arrest the accused. Ten detection teams are working on the case. An offence has been registered in the Bandra Police Station.”
Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed surgery to remove a knife lodged in his back. He is reportedly out of danger following the procedure.
The actor’s representatives described the incident as a “burglary attempt” in a media statement. Police have registered a case of attempted murder and trespassing, though the specific sections under which the First Information Report was filed have not been disclosed.
