UK PM Boris Johnson, who landed in Ahmedabad this morning, visited the Sabarmati Ashram and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. In his message, he acknowledged Gandhi as an outstanding man who achieved great things by mobilizing simple principals like truth and non-violence.
Furthermore, Johnson also tried his hand at the Charkha, which is a key symbol of Gandhi’s struggle for independence.
Johnson is on a 2-day visit to India, during which he is expected to announce series of commercial agreements. The focus will be on bilateral trade agreements as well as investment and technology partnerships. In Gujarat, he is expected to meet Industrialist Gautam Adani as well as visit JCB plant in Vadodara.
He will leave for Delhi in the evening where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. he is expected hold talks regarding Indo-Pacific trade relations. It is believed that Johnson will not be breaching the subject of Ukraine, or India’s stand on the matter.
