Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds recently opened up about his apprehensions regarding reprising the role of Deadpool. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Reynolds candidly admitted that there was a time when he feared he might never don the iconic Deadpool costume again.
The franchise’s inception, it turns out, was quite different from what fans eventually witnessed on the big screen. Initially pitched as an indie road-trip comedy, the early concept had a modest budget of $5 to $6 million and lacked the elaborate special effects associated with blockbuster movies. Reynolds described it as a “talkie-talkie road trip” featuring his character alongside Dopinder (played by Karan Soni), collecting oddities and experiencing quirky adventures along the way.
“It wasn’t meant to be an event movie,” Reynolds explained. “If we were on our way to Point C, it was simply about getting us to Point B.” Despite its unconventional approach, Reynolds found the concept intriguing and even enjoyed the offbeat twist.
“Deadpool and Wolverine” is going to be released in cinemas on July 26.
