After Russian President Vladimir Putin announced ‘military action’ in Ukraine, loud explosions were heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other areas of the country.
It comes just hours after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that Russia will invade Ukraine within hours. Earlier, Russia said separatists wanted its help to repel the aggression by Ukraine, and as explosions rocked the breakaway east.
India’s Statement:
India is concerned about the current development as India’s permanent representative to the United Nations TS Tirumurti said that the situation is in danger of spiraling into a major crisis which may undermine the peace and security of the region.
Ukraine’s Statement:
Foreign Minister of Ukraine has issued a statement that Ukraine will defend itself and win. Defense Minister of Ukraine has stated that more than 300 people have died after Russia started military operations in Ukraine.
Stock Markets:
Bombay Stock Exchange has tumbled over 1800 points over the news of Russia’s attack on Ukraine. Nifty 50 on the other hand tumbled over 470 points.
UN Statement on the Conflict:
UN Chief Antonio Guterres has issued a statement asking Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine.
