RS Sodhi Quits AMUL, Jayen Mehta To Replace Him

The Managing Director of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), RS Sodhi has stepped down from the post from the  popularly known brand name ‘AMUL’. India has a wide variety of dairy product brands. The decision to ask Sodhi to step down was taken in the board meeting of the Federation at Gandhinagar today. However, there are speculations that he was forced to resign but yet not confirmed.

As per the letter to RS Sodhi, signed by GCMMF Chairman Shamal Patel and Vice Chamrian Valamjibhai Humbal, the federation meeting in Gandhinagar held on 9 January in Gandhinagar decided to end the services of RS Sodhi as Managing Director of the Federation with immediate effect. RS Sodhi was asked to leave the charge with immediate effect and hand it over to COO(Chief Operating Officer) of the Federation Jayen Mehta. 

Since June 2010, Sodhi has served as the Managing Director of GCMMF Ltd (AMUL). In addition, he is the President of the Indian Dairy Association.

Jayen Mehta, AMUL’s COO (Chief Operating Officer), has been appointed Managing Director, succeeding RS Sodhi. 

Currently, AMUL has annual sales of 53 thousand crores worth of products and is the largest cooperative owned by 36 lakh farmers in Gujarat.
