Rs 850 Crore Notice To Navjot Kaur Sidhu Over Cancer Cure Claims

| Updated: November 29, 2024 17:56

The Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) on Friday issued a Rs 850 crore notice to Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of senior Congress leader and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu following the latter’s cancer treatment claims.

Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife addressed a press conference recently, claiming that his wife’s cancer was cured through a diet plan that played a vital role in her treatment. He stated that cancer disease could be cured with a lemonade diet, raw turmeric, and neem.

The CCS convener, Dr Kuldeep Solanki, called Sidhu’s remarks “confusing” and “misleading.” These remarks may negatively impact people’s perceptions of allopathic medicine and treatment. According to the notice, “it is forcing even cancer patients to stop taking the medication in between, which has increased their life risks.”

In addition to demanding an apology from Sidhu, the civic society ordered Kaur to back up her assertions with documentation within seven days. If she didn’t, they would file a lawsuit against her.

Additionally, the CCS requested that she publicly explain her husband’s claims, claiming that any false information might endanger the health of other patients.

Many people, particularly doctors, vehemently opposed Sidhu’s allegations, which caused controversy. They advised the public to seek expert medical assistance for cancer therapy and stated that no scientific evidence supported such assertions.

Many people, particularly doctors, vehemently opposed Sidhu’s allegations, which caused controversy. Dr CS Pramesh, the Director of the Tata Memorial Hospital, posted a statement on X questioning their cancer cure claims. The statement urged the public to continue their medications and not believe and spread such misinformation. He and 262 other oncologists signed it. He also encouraged people to spread it as much as possible.

This statement also read that “these statements have no high-quality evidence to support them. While research is ongoing for some of these products, no clinical data recommends their use as anti-cancer agents.”
