The state government is to give an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 2 lakh each from the PMNRF (PM’s National Relief Fund). The injured will receive Rs 50,000 each. As per the information received from Gujarat Disaster Management Minister Rajendra Trivedi, 17 people are still hospitalized, while two people are still missing.
The Machchhu river bridge in Morbi, around 300 kilometres from the state capital Gandhinagar, reopened a week ago following major repairs and renovations.
People were crowded at the bridge when it collapsed at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2022.
The death toll in the bridge collapse tragedy has risen to more than 140.
