In the recent developments in Botad, Gujarat, that alarmed the state Government and its officials, the prima facie investigation revealed that the rate of liquor pouches ranges from ₹10-40 in dry Gujarat. According to the sources, 14 bootleggers made the liquor together and smuggled it to many villages of Gujarat. The ₹20 rupees bottles of spurious liquor have taken at least 28 lives. While more than 70 people admitted to the hospital are fighting for their lives.
The Gujarat Police has lodged an FIR against the 14 people in the ‘Latthakand.’ Moreover, a woman bootlegger is also involved in the case. The police have lodged a case under IPC Sections 302, 328, and 120. As per the police, the peddlers sold pouches of liquor worth ₹20.
Since morning, the families of the Rojid village mourn the lives of the people lost. On July 26, the villagers cremated five dead bodies together. Since there are only two pyres in the region, people cremated many bodies on the ground.
Meanwhile, a video of a country-made liquor hub in Vadodara went viral. The video shows people buying the liquor and drinking it on the spot. Such situations have alarmed the police and the government. Furthermore, the police are investigating the incident.
