The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) caught four individuals, including two women passengers, attempting to smuggle gold worth Rs 1.50 crore through Ahmedabad International Airport. The gold was hidden in ingenious ways, with two women carrying capsules in their private parts and purses.

The culprits, Murtaza Ali Bhopalwala and Farida Bhopalwala had transformed the gold into a paste and concealed it within four capsules obtained from an individual named Aziz residing in Abu Dhabi. Their mission was to deliver this contraband to Dilmir Aleem Syed Pirzada in Ahmedabad.

Following a piece of information given by Murtaza and Farida, the DRI traced Dilmir Syed’s whereabouts. He was reportedly staying incognito at the Kanchan Palace Hotel near Shankarbhuvan in Shahpur, using the alias “Gaurav Kumar Parihar.” DRI officials swiftly apprehended Dilmir Syed, who was accompanied by a woman named Fatema. The police detained both individuals and discovered a significant quantity of gold paste concealed in a black capsule within Fatema’s purse.

As a result, the authorities seized a total of Rs 1.50 crore worth of gold from the four accused. The DRI has initiated legal proceedings against them under relevant sections of the Customs Act.
