In a unique initiative, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has decided to rename various projects in the city’s eastern wards of Odhav and Viratnagar, drawing inspiration from the epic Ramayana. The new names will reflect characters and places from this ancient text, infusing a sense of cultural heritage into the city’s landscape.
Which area was given what name
- The Odha party plot will now be known as the Shri Ram party plot.
- Shabri Vatika has been renamed to Odhav Garden.
- Another garden has been christened as the Ayodhya Forest.
- The local lake is now the Lavkush Lake.
- The library has been renamed to the Valmiki Rishi Library.
- Sony’s Chali Bridge has been transformed into Ram Setu.
- The Ramrajya Bridge is now the Rajendrapark Bridge.
- The Laxman Bridge has been renamed to the Ajit Mill Bridge.
- Finally, Kesarinandan Chowk will now be known as Kunwara Circle.
With these changes, Ahmedabad’s eastern wards will echo the tales of the Ramayana, adding a new layer of cultural significance to the city’s identity.
