The founders of the Red Lotus Events, work throughout the year in the UK to promote Indian arts and culture, encouraging the next generation to safeguard and uphold their cultural identity.
Mira Salat, a spokesperson for Red Lotus Events CIC, said: “This year, we are looking for more people to participate in this three-day event. When we started this in 2016, we wanted to celebrate Gujarati culture and spread it across the UK. In London, the Gujarati community craves for such fests to celebrate their true cultural heritage.”
“Teaming with Wise Monkey Concept based in India, we’re revitalising Rangeelu Gujarat in a more grand and detailed manner.”
Rangeelu Gujarat will be showcasing arts and crafts, music, dance, theatre, literature, food, lifestyle, history and fabrics. Popular artists from Gujarat will be selected to represent Gujarati culture at its finest.
In order to build a bridge of understanding between the two nations, the British Gujarati community will participate in this through performances, visual displays, and interactive workshops. The British government and Brent council are backing the event and are excited to see Rangeelu Gujarat to return.
The first edition of the event took place in 2016 and attracted more than 27,000 people over the course of two days. More than 40 artists from Gujarat including famous singer and performer Arvind Vegda, performed in the first edition of this fest.
Talking to VOI, Arvind Vegda said: “Gujarati culture and its components should be spread across the world. The young generation must understand the significance of our old heritage and traditions. Through this fest, people in the UK are able to celebrate and connect with other communities.”
Sharing about the costs of all the artists, Neeraj Mecwan of Wise Monkey, said: “We are here to run operations of Red Lotus. We are always covering the costs of travel, logistics, stay etc of the artists coming to our event. We also, provide money (in the form of tokens) to artists. We search for a special talent in Gujarat.”
