With an ambition to generate employment scope in the state, the Rajasthan government has implemented the tourism scheme i.e. Rajasthan Rural Tourism Scheme 2022. The policy was disclosed in the state budget to enhance tourism in rural regions, and the state cabinet under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on November 24 had given a green signal.
“Tourism units showcasing village life, art culture and heritage will be promoted by the state government,” an official CMO press statement said.
The advancement of rural tourism in the region will be under the Forest Department and will be implemented as per the provisions of the State Eco Tourism Policy, 2021. There will be Guest houses built in the rural areas having the spacing of 6-10 rooms. The rooms will be on rent for tourists and a sufficient arrangement of food for them. The tourism setup will be constructed on agricultural land on a minimum of 2,000 square meters and go up to 2 hectares. Basic practices of agriculture such as horticulture work, camel farm, horse farm etc will be sorted for the tourists in the 90 per cent of the rural parts.
A caravan park will be built for the parking of vehicles of tourists on a land of a minimum of 1,000 sq mt to 1 hectare. The Home Stay (Paying Guest House) scheme notified earlier by the Tourism Department is also applicable to rural regions. In this scheme, up to 5 rooms will be available to the tourists by the house owners.
With this, the government intends to promote the rural tradition and employment generation in rural areas.
