The three-day Kota Mahotsav, a festival intended to promote travel and draw tourists to the coaching centre, got underway at Ummed Singh Stadium on Friday.
The event’s chief guest was MLA Bharat Singh Kundanpur, while the special guests were ex-president of UIT, Kota, Ravindra Tyagi, and vice-president of the state khadi board, Pankaj Mehta.
Other attendees included Kota collector OP Bunker, acting Kota city SP Praveen Jain, Kota (Rural) SP Kavendra Singh Sagar, and acting divisional commissioner Rajpal Singh.
On the first day, Sahariya tribal and Ghumar dancers as well as Chakri dancers from Hadouti and Bam Rasiya artists from Bharatpur mesmerised the audience with their performances. The Maratha Light Infantry band entertained the crowd as well.
In addition, the grandpa-grandson race, in which pairs of different generations ran on the tracks while holding hands, was another highlight of the day.
