Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will visit Joshimath’s disaster-stricken villages in Uttarakhand and connect with the locals next month. State Congress leaders claimed that they dedicated the day to the Joshimath tragedy while in Jammu for the 130th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Top party figures taking part in the yatra, according to state party president Karan Mahara, have expressed worry over the harm caused by land submergence in Joshimath.
Rahul has urged everyone to walk together in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in order to save Joshimath. “As a Himalayan state, we also have to protect the environment. We have to take care of the interests of the people,” he said. “The government should immediately rehabilitate and compensate so that the lives of those affected can move forward.”
Soon after the visit was announced by the party, the BJP referred to Rahul’s scheduled yatra as the Congress’ “double character.” “We do not object to Rahul Gandhi coming to Uttarakhand, but he should not say that the BJP is destroying Uttarakhand,” said state BJP spokesperson Sunita Vidyarthi.
According to Yashpal Arya, the leader of the opposition, the Yatra was against party politics and those who incited enmity in the nation. Arya said, “If the government’s goal is clear, they shouldn’t raise a fuss over Rahul’s trip to Uttarakhand.”
The BJP has called Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra a “failure” and claimed that the people have not shown any enthusiasm for the yatra, which is scheduled to visit Kashmir Valley on January 27. According to the DAP of Ghulam Nabi Azad, officials of the Congress are pleading with members of other parties for support. According to former Dy CM and senior J&K BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, the populace is not enthusiastic.
