Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition Congress party, has sparked outrage among the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and others for repeatedly bringing up actress Aishwarya Rai in his speeches about the Ram Mandir ceremony.
The BJP’s Karnataka unit accused him of having a “dangerous & creepy obsession” with “successful & self-made women” and of insulting India’s pride Aishwarya Rai. They posted their criticism on X (formerly Twitter), calling him a “Congress Clown Prince”.
The BJP hit back at him, calling him a “fourth-generation dynast, with zero achievements”, who was resorting to slurs against Aishwarya Rai, who had brought more glory to India than his entire family.
Singer Sona Mohapatra also slammed Rahul Gandhi for his comments, saying that they were demeaning to women. She asked him to know better, as he himself must have faced similar insults against his mother and sister. She also praised Aishwarya Rai’s dancing skills.
