BJP MP Mansukh Vasava has stirred a hornet’s nest after claiming that Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to enter a temple in Chennai because he had not taken a bath. The BJP MP who has earlier served as Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs in the Narendra Modi government from 2014-2016 said Rahul Gandhi bathes only twice a week.
However, the BJP MP from Bharuch in South Gujarat got his facts wrong. He said, “Rahul Gandhi was not allowed to enter a temple in Madras in Andhra Pradesh for darshan because he had gone there without taking a bath.” The audience cheered him as he took barbs at Congress.
Drawing parallels between the epic Ramayana and the Modi government, MP Vasawa, a tribal leader of Gujarat, said “The country was on the path shown by Lord Rama. All the Ravanas coming in the way of Ram Rajya should be neutralised,” he added.
The MP was speaking at the inauguration of new party offices at Dediapada and Sagbara in Narmada district. He criticised all those “ignorant people protesting against the Government”.
He continued that he was confident of being re-elected from Bharuch Loksabha constituency with a victory margin of over five lac votes. Without naming late Congress leader Ahmed Patel or his children, the BJP MP said the Congress was confused about their candidate from Bharuch as “sometimes the brother claims this is his seat and sometimes the daughter says she is going to contest and at other times, there is another Congressman staking his claim for the Bharuch seat”. However, they do not realise that people have decided that Lotus only shall bloom again in Bharuch district.
