A prayer meeting to honour the life of Late Girishbhai Trivedi, Chairman of Vibes of India and one of Gujarat’s most senior and esteemed journalists, will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
The prayer meeting will be held at Sindhu Bhavan on Sindhu Bhavan Marg, Ahmedabad, between 4 pm and 6 pm.
Girishbhai Trivedi passed away on December 8, 2024, in Ahmedabad at 84. A pioneering figure in Gujarati journalism, he began his career in 1958 as a reporter cum sub-editor for Phulchhab. Over the decades, he went on to serve in roles such as Senior District Information Officer in the Information Department and personal secretary to former Gujarat Chief Minister Late Balwantrai Mehta.
Girishbhai got back with renewed vigour and served as the first editor of Saurashtra Samachar in 1964 and launched the first evening daily of the Kutch-Saurashtra region, Sami Saanj, in 1966 and was Resident Editor (1989–1993) for the Vadodara-Rajkot edition of Loksatta-Jansatta. He also made history as the first non-Parsi editor of the esteemed Mumbai Samachar, a role he held from 1993 to 2000. Additionally, he held the position of Group Editor at Sambhav Media Limited.
At the age of 81, Mr Trivedi embraced the digital era and founded Vibes of India. He was actively working till the end.
He was married to the late Jayshreeben Trivedi. He is survived by his family including Nehal Shah, Deepal Trivedi, Rajal Trivedi, Hemang Shah, Sneh Shah and Arnav Shah, as well as the Vibes of India team.
