The Gujarati community living in Canada organised a prayer to pay homage to the four members of the Patel family who died in freezing temperatures of minus 35 degrees celsius on the Canada-US border.
The process of repatriating their bodies from Canada is currently underway. It is also learned that the family had mailed to the Indian embassy and the Canadian police have contacted the families of the four victims. Police in Canada has questioned his relatives and it will now be decided whether to bring the bodies of the four deceased to India or to complete their funeral in Canada.
Officials, however, have not yet officially confirmed the deaths of the four. In this regard, Hemant Shah, a leader of the Gujarati community living in Canada, said, “We were heartbroken to hear the news of this incident. I have lived here for 48 years.”
Gujaratis across Canada are currently stunned by this incident. He further said that we have not talked to his family living in North Gujarat about this but we are trying to reach them. .
