Vadodara district’s Savli police have seized 253 cartons of foreign liquor from a luxury van that entered Gujarat from Rajasthan. The van was apprehended at the Khakhariya check-post in Amreli district and the two people have been arrested. Authorities estimated the total value of alcohol in a luxury van to be more than Rs15 lakhs. A total of 5556 bottles of foreign liquor were seized during the operation.
This morning Savli PSI Alpesh Mahida received a tip from an informer that a large amount of liquor would be transported into Gujarat through a luxury van. The police had also received the number of the said van. Nevertheless, when the police stopped and checked the van, they were shocked at the sheer number of bottles.
Police have seized bottles of foreign liquor worth Rs15,11,520 and a van worth Rs. 35,00,000 as well as 2 mobile phones and Rs7100 in cash. According to police sources, a preliminary investigation has revealed that the foreign liquor was to be delivered in Vadodara.
The police have arrested Sumer Singh Narendrasingh Rathod, who is a resident Ajmer in Rajastahan, and Shravan Chogaram Patel, a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
