The Kapoor family met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday to extend an invitation to him for the upcoming Raj Kapoor Film Festival, which will commence on December 14 in honour of the legendary actor-director’s centenary birth anniversary. The festival is dedicated to celebrating Raj Kapoor’s 100-year legacy in Indian cinema.

Raj Kapoor, born on December 14, played a pivotal role in shaping Bollywood’s golden era. He founded RK Films and became a household name through iconic films like Awaara, Shree 420 and Mera Naam Joker. With his unique ‘tramp’ persona and innovative storytelling, Raj Kapoor left a lasting mark on Indian cinema.

Kapoor family members, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Aadar Jain, Armaan Jain and Neetu Kapoor, gathered for a group photo with the Prime Minister. Kareena Kapoor, Raj Kapoor’s granddaughter, was accompanied by her husband, Saif Ali Khan and shared multiple pictures from the meeting. One of the photos captured PM Modi signing an autograph for her children, Taimur and Jeh.

Karisma Kapoor also met the Prime Minister to honour her grandfather’s immense contribution to Indian cinema, describing the moment as a celebration of “100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and influence.”

Alia Bhatt, who attended with her husband Ranbir Kapoor, shared her own photos from the meeting, expressing her admiration for Raj Kapoor’s enduring impact on the global film industry. Alia described the experience as an honour, reflecting on how Raj Kapoor’s legacy continues to inspire filmmakers and artists worldwide.

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Ranbir Kapoor’s sister and a recent Netflix debutant, shared a heartfelt post about her long-held wish to meet the Prime Minister. Reflecting on her family’s legacy, she wrote about the honour of representing her grandfather, Raj Kapoor and the gratitude she felt for the support and love shown by the Prime Minister, her family and fans alike.

Neetu Kapoor, Raj Kapoor’s daughter-in-law and the late Rishi Kapoor’s wife, expressed her deep gratitude to the Prime Minister for his warm gesture and support in celebrating this milestone anniversary.
