A car smash into a Beverly Hills residence in March led to charges of reckless driving being brought against Pete Davidson, a former Saturday Night Live cast member.
According to Us Weekly, the 29-year-old comedian was charged with one count of careless driving, and his arraignment is set for July 27.
“We believe that Mr. Davidson engaged in reckless driving, which ultimately led to his involvement in a serious collision into a home,” the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office said in a statement on June 16. Fortunately, no one was critically hurt in this crash.
“We are aware that careless driving can have disastrous effects. The number of traffic deaths in Los Angeles has risen to its highest level in 20 years in 2022.
We must not overlook this worrying trend. Because of this, it’s essential that we treat all claims of reckless driving seriously and hold those accountable, according to the statement.
Pete Davidson and his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders were driving in Beverly Hills’ Flats neighbourhood when the incident happened earlier this year.
The car allegedly jumped the curb, destroyed a fire hydrant, and collided with the side of a nearby house because the comic lost control of it, according to TMZ. As soon as the police came, an investigation got going. Authorities did not believe that Davidson’s use of alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision, and he was not detained.
