The ‘Perfecting Youth Session’ (PYS), a youth-focused lecture series aimed at preserving cultural and spiritual values, will celebrate its 200th session on December 01, 2024, at Karnavati Club, Ahmedabad. The session will run from 8 am to 1 pm and is expected to draw thousands of participants from across the country.
Founded by Jainacharya Shri Udayvallabhsuriji Maharaj, the PYS series has been held for over 15 years in cities such as Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. These sessions, open to all and free of charge, have gained significant popularity among young people, with each session addressing topics relevant to personal development and cultural preservation.
A distinctive feature of the PYS series is the ability of Jainacharya Shri Udayvallabhsuriji to communicate clearly to large audiences without the use of microphones or audio systems. This unique method has made the sessions particularly impactful and has contributed to their growing appeal.
Over the years, PYS has addressed a wide range of subjects, including patriotism, leadership, faith, courage, cultural appreciation, self-improvement, compassion and ethical living. Each session is characterised by its engaging presentation style, which combines logical reasoning, humour, anecdotes and contemporary examples.
The impact of PYS is evident in the actions taken by its participants. In one session, over 2,000 attendees pledged to adopt single-bucket baths during the summer to help conserve water. In another, participants committed to reducing their mobile phone usage in response to concerns about social media addiction.
The programme consistently attracts between 1,500 and 3,000 young professionals, including architects, engineers, doctors, chartered accountants and lawyers, aged 15 to 35. In the past year alone, sessions held at venues such as GMDC, Shivanand Ashram Hall and Sindhu Bhavan Hall in Ahmedabad have drawn a combined attendance of around 400,000 young people.
For the upcoming 200th session, organisers anticipate a turnout of 3,000 to 4,000 attendees, including over 600 college students travelling from Mumbai. This event underscores the continued relevance and influence of PYS in shaping a generation of youth committed to cultural and moral values.
