Supriya Sule and Praful Patel were named working presidents of the Nationalist Congress Party by Sharad Pawar on Saturday.
At the party’s 25th anniversary celebration, Pawar announced the news. He and PA Sangma launched the party in 1999.
An important member of the NCP, Ajit Pawar, was there when the news was made.
Pawar made a resignation offer to the party’s leadership last month, to which the party’s members and other political figures fiercely objected.
On May 5, a panel of NCP members convened to discuss Pawar’s offer rejected it and encouraged him to continue as party leader.
