Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, this morning, visited the Markaz E Ahle Sunnat Barkat E Raza Library as part of his Porbandar, Gujarat, tour. Rupala expressed amazement over the library, which was established ages ago but is still well-maintained and well-stocked.
This library is considered one of the biggest for Islamic literature and Urdu-books in India. It has long history and has rich cultural influence.
In a tweet Rupala said, writing in Gujarati, “Today I had the opportunity to visit the Markaz Library in Porbandar. It was a pleasure to see this years old library, being so well-organized and well-stocked.”
Rupala is in Porbandar as part of the Yoga Countdown Program that is starting May 9, 2022. This a precursor to the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2022, which will be celebrated on June 21. This countdown program aims to create wider outreach and awareness across the country on the importance of Yoga in everyday life. The program will aide to motivate everyone to practice Yoga for overall health and wellness. UNESCO has also listed Yoga as intangible world heritage.
Similar countdown programs will be inaugurated Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh and Mahabalipuram and Tamil Nadu.
