A Pakistani paramilitary soldier has been killed and 11 others injured in gunfire by Afghan Taliban forces at border posts manned by Pakistani troops. This comes days after Pakistan carried out strikes targeting the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban militants.
Defence sources claim that on Saturday morning, Afghan troops opened fire on several Pakistani border posts in the Upper Kurram district without explanation.
Both light and heavy weapons were used, according to accounts, to fire at posts in the regions of Ghozgarhi, Matha Sangar, Kot Ragha and Tari Mengal.
Pakistani forces struck back, causing the opposing side to suffer heavy casualties as seven to eight Afghan soldiers were killed in the gunfight.
However, 11 soldiers suffered injuries and one soldier of the Frontier Constabulary was killed in the gunfight.
The incident happened a few days after Pakistan struck terrorist locations in Afghanistan’s Paktika region in retaliation against the TTP terrorists who were banned for allegedly exploiting Afghan territory to train and launch attacks against Pakistan.
