As the highly contagious Omicron virus subvariant unfurls across the USA, coronavirus cases are increasing. The USA is witnessing, on average, more than 56,000 new COVID cases every day. While in April, the average number of daily cases was 25,000.
Virtually every infection across the nation is from the omicron coronavirus variant. There are several sub-variants of omicron, and BA.2 – sometimes referred to as ‘stealth omicron’ has been the dominant strain circulating since March.
Every case around the USA is an omicron variant, whether BA.1 or BA.2. BA.2, also known as the stealth omicron, has been the dominant strain scattering since March. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, BA.2 was responsible for 29%of the new coronavirus cases of mid-April.
According to the New York State Department of Health, the emergence of subvariant in the state was in mid-April. BA.2 was the reason for 43% of the cases across the state in April. The more the number of cases, the more is the opportunity for the virus to mutate.
INSACOG, a network of nationwide testing laboratories established by the government, proved India’s first case of Omicron subvariant XE. Specialists say no proof indicates the difference between a covid infection and other Omicron sublineages.
Earlier, Maharashtra and Gujarat confirmed two cases. But there was no official confirmation of where the XE sample was obtained from.
