Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar has now become India’s richest woman, as per the IIFL Wealth Hurun India rich list 2022. She has surpassed Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw to become the richest self-made Indian billionaire. Nayar has a net worth of Rs 38,700 crore and she is the only woman on this list who has joined the ranks of Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani and Cyrus Poonawalla.
Her rank jumped from 169 to the 33rd spot as her beauty and wellness product company, Nykaa, grew by 345% in the last year.
Nayar is followed by Rekha Jhunjhunwala, wife of late stock investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. She has a net worth of Rs 37,200 crore. Some of the other women on the list are Godrej’s Smita V Crishna ( ₹32,000 crores), Radha Vembu of Zoho Corporation (₹30,500 crores), Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw ( ₹24,800 crores) and others.
The list also has billionaire Gautam Adani surpassing Reliance Industries Ltd. ‘s Mukesh Ambani. Serum Institute’s Cyrus Poonawala was third on the list followed by Shiv Nadar, Radhakishan Damani, and Vinod Shantilal Adani.
Nykaa has a diverse portfolio of beauty, personnel care and fashion products, including its owned manufactured brand products. The company was founded in 2011 by Falguni Nayar. Since its inception, the startup has become one of the fastest-growing omnichannel marketplaces in the country. The company majorly sells women’s cosmetics on the platform.
