The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) decided on Tuesday to rent out five historic step-wells in the old city area for wedding ceremonies and photo shoots.
AMC’s Heritage and Recreational Committee will survey the properties before finalising the charges. At a meeting on Tuesday, the committee decided to rent out five step-wells in the old city area for wedding ceremonies and photoshoots.
These Five Stepwells Will Be Rented Out:
1. Amritavarshini Vav, Panchkuva
2. Parsi Dharamshala Vav, Relief Road
3. Goswami Haveli Vav, Doshiwada ni Pol
4. Mahadev Mandir Vav
5. Jesangbhai ni Vadi Vav, Gheekanta
Out of the city’s 20 stepwells, Dada Hari ni Vav in Asarwa, Jethabhai ni Vav in Isanpur, and Mata Bhavani ni Vav in Asarwa fall under the jurisdiction of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The State Archaeological Department manages the Amritavarshini Vav. Additionally, AMC maintains 16 step-wells in the old city area.
