After fake government offices and fake PMO officials were revealed, an incident involving the running of a fake multi-speciality hospital in Gujarat came to light. Incredible as it may sound, an establishment in the name of Ananya Multi Speciality Hospital has been run by people with fake MBBS degrees for the last two months in the Bavla taluk in the vicinity of Gujarat’s biggest city, Ahmedabad.
It took the death of a minor after being treated at the so-called hospital for the authorities to visit the place and initiate action against the wrongdoers. The question remains as to how an important business establishment as big as a hospital can remain unnoticed by the civic authorities at the village and taluk administration.
The Chief District Health Officer of Ahmedabad, Dr Shailesh Parmar and his team raided the place run at a two-shop centre in the Kerala village on the Nal Sarovar road in Bavla near Ahmedabad. The authorities sealed the fake hospital, which was offering 24-hour “medical” service to the public with full-fledged departments of Surgery, Urology, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, skin and dental treatment
The fake hospital was run from a rented place in a two-shop commercial building on the ground floor of a building. Kerala, one of the Gujarat government’s notified industrial areas, is a thriving industrial centre with hundreds of labourers working and living around.
The official team came to know that the fake hospital was also performing surgeries. The Chief District Health Officer had doubts over the authenticity of the hospital and the credentials of the doctors when he came across the video of the minor who died after receiving treatment at the fake hospital. Mehul Chavda, the person operating the fake hospital, turns out to possess a fake MBBS degree.
The viral video that the family of the deceased minor shared on social media claimed that the doctor at a fake hospital, even after repeated requests, did not give reports after the patient was admitted. The fake hospital charged Rs. 1.5 lakh before advising the family members to shift the patient to the government hospital.
