The fixed upper age limit has been removed for all candidates appearing for undergraduate medical entrance examinations.
This significant decision was taken last October in the fourth meeting of the National Medical Commision, the top regulatory body of medical education in India.
NMC Secretary, Dr Pulkesh Kumar has written a letter to the National Testing Agency and asked it to remove the maximum age criteria from the information bulletin of NEET UG.
The National Medical Commision of India had previously announced that age limit for general category and reserved category aspirants was 25 and 30 respectively.NEET is the entrance test taken for the admission for medical studies courses like MBBS BDS and etc, Every year more then 15 lakh students appear for this entrance examination across the country. NEET 2022 examination is scheduled in the last week of June.
Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted, ” Good news for aspirants of NEET- UG. The NMC removes the fixed upper age limit for appearing in NEET- UG examination. The decision will immensely benefit aspiring doctors and further help in strengthening medical education in the country.”
