Nisha Shah died of Covid-19 in May, 2021. She was 55 and used to run a fair price shop in Vatva. The woman who died in the second wave of Covid was recently booked for cheating 24 people of Rs 47 lakh. The FIR booked with Isanpur police states that she promised people of providing housing subsidies under a government scheme. She did not keep her word and was booked on Saturday, posthumously.
After her death 24 people separately approached Shah’s daughter Heli to ask for their money back. Meanwhile, the young daughter was unaware about any such transactions. One of the victims, Gulab Kataria works as domestic help in Vatva. He filed a complaint of cheating and breach of trust against the deceased.
Nisha had promised Kataria that she will help her avail of a government subsidy of Rs 3.50 lakh. The houses were being constructed near the Gebanshah Pir shrine in Vatva. Nisha told Kataria that she would have to pay Rs 70,000 and the government would provide the Rs 3.50 lakh.
