Gujarat: Nine In Ten 10th Class Students Go For Easier Version Of Math, When Given Option

| Updated: July 17, 2022 09:43

After Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) gave the option for the first time to chose between two different versions of Math in March 2022 Baord exams for class 10, the Basic Math version has turned out to be a clear favourite among students. The dual version introduced by authorities has Basic Math and Standard Math. It is widely percieved by the students that the Basic Math is easier to fathom.

The trend started in march 2022 exams where almost nine out of 10 students, taking exams had opted for basic mathematics paper, considered lighter. Out Of 9,25,575 Registered Students, 8,02,396 had opted For Basic Math Paper In March. Now, for the supplementary exams, only 8,901 students have opted for Standard Mathematics while 96,424 students chosing Basic Mathematics.

The board has also allowed students the option to change their choice once the result is announced and appear for the supplementary exam with a different choice than what they had opted for in the March exam. 5,490 students who failed Standard Mathematics in the March 2022 exams have now switched to Basic Mathematics.

At the same time 3,290 students who had chosen Mathematics Basic in the March 2022 exam have now switched to Mathematics Standard in the upcoming supplementary exam.

GSHSEB officials said in the supplementary exams for Class 10, which begins on July 18,
