Nicole Kidman has rejoined the HBO family and will star in the new limited series “The Perfect Nanny” on the premium cable network.
In the show, which is based on author Leila Slimani’s book of the same name, Kidman will appear alongside “PEN15” co-creator Maya Erskine. Kidman previously starred in HBO’s critically praised series “Big Little Lies” and “The Undoing.” The entertainment news source claims that Erskine will executive produce and write the series as well.
Slimani’s thriller book, “Chanson Douce” (Lullaby), was released in France under that name. It explores a couple’s relationship with the nanny they hire as it becomes more and more co-dependent. It was awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt in France in 2016, and its translation quickly rose to fame elsewhere.
The official logline of the show reads, “A seemingly perfect nanny goes to work for a couple with two young children, but her helpful personality eventually deteriorates into something sinister.”
Along with Pascal Caucheteux of Why Not Productions and Philippe Godeau of Pan-Europeenne, Kidman and her Blossom Films partner Per Saari will also executive produce.
