NCB Gujarat Seizes Over 10kg of Charas at Adalaj Toll Plaza

| Updated: October 29, 2024 13:21

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Gujarat has apprehended three suspects, including one woman, at the Adalaj Toll Plaza in Gandhinagar after seizing 10 kgs of charas in their vehicle. The trio, identified as Bashir Ahmed, Mohammed Mohsin and Suraiyabanu, was travelling from Rajasthan to Ahmedabad when intercepted by the NCB.

The operation began when the NCB team received intelligence regarding a possible transport of alcohol or charas by a group travelling from Rajasthan to Ahmedabad. Setting up surveillance near Adalaj Toll Plaza, the NCB team stopped the vehicle in question and, during a search, discovered charas instead of the anticipated alcohol.

Interrogations revealed that the charas was sourced in Rajasthan and the group had intended to deliver it in Ahmedabad. Officials believe that the woman suspect was included to reduce suspicion from law enforcement authorities. NCB investigators are currently tracing the supply chain, aiming to identify both the origin of the charas in Rajasthan and its intended recipients in Ahmedabad.

NCB officials noted that drug traffickers commonly use routes from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to transport illegal substances into Gujarat. The team is also investigating whether the trio has previously made similar deliveries to Ahmedabad, with further interrogations underway.

The suspects now face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
