National Security Day: March 4 is observed as National Security Day in India. It is also known as Rashtriya Suraksha Diwas and is celebrated to honor the National Security Day.
March 4 marks the day when the national safety council of India was established in 1966. The Ministry of labor took this decision under the government that national security day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1972. The national security council, the apex agency that looks into the country’s political, economic, energy and strategic security concerns on November 19, 1998 was established by the prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Why do we celebrate national security day?
This day is to appreciate our security forces which are military, para-military, commandos, police officials, security guards and India’s security forces.

To reach involvement of major players in different industrial sectors at different levels.
To encourage the use of participative approach by employers by requiring their employees in the activities of SHE.
To encourage the evolution of need-based activities, self-compliance with statutory requirements and SHE management system at the workplace.

The day is celebrated with different themes. This year the theme declared by the national safety council of India is ‘Nurture Young Minds – Develop Safety Culture.’
