March 10- the day of counting of votes cast by the electorate of Goa, Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Punjab, is a huge prestige issue for the ruling party at the Centre.
The Modi led Bharatiya Janata Party, is super confident about retaining power in India’s largest State, Uttar Pradesh which is home to Varanasi, the Prime Minister’s constituency. Exit polls have projected that BJP will come back to power in Manipur and Uttar Pradesh but there is many a slip between the cup and the lip.
At the same time, exit polls have predicted a tight race in Goa and Uttarakhand. According to the exit polls, the Aam Aadmi Party will emerge victorious in Punjab. Counting of votes is expected to begin at 8 a.m tomorrow and the initial trends are likely to be known by 10 a.m. The trends will possibly become clearer by around mid-day for smaller states like Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand but counting for bigger states like Uttar Pradesh will take some time as it has 403 Assembly seats and elections were held in seven phases.
