Hollywood actor Angelina Jolie on Friday revealed that her children, despite growing up in the limelight, have no particular affinity for the film industry.
During a panel at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, the actress shared that her kids, whom she shares with ex-husband Brad Pitt, are not drawn to cinema.
“No. I don’t know, that’s not my doing,” Jolie said when asked about her children’s interest in film. “I always wanted them to be around film because I wanted them to know as a part of, it’s such a wonderful family, to be creative, to be an artist, to be… They’re not interested.”
The actress further explained that her children are not fond of the celebrity culture that often comes with the entertainment industry.
“They really don’t like any of the celebrity part of it, especially Shiloh hates it. I think in a very healthy way they don’t. It’s not a normal thing. It’s a silly thing really,” she said.
Despite their lack of interest in acting or fame, Jolie noted that her children have still engaged with the arts in their own unique ways.
“Yes, they’ve been on set with me. And some of them dance, some of them paint, some of them love theatre, but none of them are dying to be on screen,” she asserted.
Jolie’s two sons, Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21, have taken roles behind the scenes in the film industry, assisting in the production of Maria. “It’s good to start them in working,” Jolie commented.
As a mother, Jolie emphasised the importance of giving her children the space to discover their own paths. “And I think for my children, I hope I’m giving them space to figure out who they actually are and something that they want to live for that’s authentic to them so it holds in their life,” she added.
