Ahmedabad is not just another city.
Ahmedabad is an emotion.
Ahmedabad is where “dhanda paani keva chhe” means how are you.
India’s first heritage city, Ahmedabad’s Indo-Islamic architecture is striking with some European (Dutch and Portuguese) touch.
Ahmedabad however is an emotion because it was from this city that Mohandas Karamachand Gandhi began his movement for independence of India. The World respects him as a Mahatma for the non violent fight that he led for India’s freedom. He believed in inclusiveness, democracy and equality. Today is Ahmedabad’s 611st birthday and we at Vibes of India wish that Aapnu Amdavad remains aapna badhanu(all of us) across caste, class, community and “boundaries”.
Whether it is food, garba or kite flying, our city loves to be in festive moods.
Fafda and Jalebi , Khandvi and Dhokla and several other mouth relishing Gujarati delicacies are Ahmedabad special. But so Lucknow styled kebabs and mouth watering non vegetarian items. If you are a nonvegetarian the Bhatiyar Gulli in Old Ahmedabad and the eateries in Juhapura are places to rush to!
For vegetarians and vegans, Ahmedabad is heaven with unlimited food choices.
Vibes of India celebrated Ahmedabad’s birthday with talks and addas with several Amdavadis.
These include art curator Anil Relia, theatre doyen Saumya Joshi, very Amdavadi and now ex RJ ,Dhwanit, tax expert Mukesh Patel, Founder IM Happiness Project and Food Memories owner the young millennial Aishwarya Jain, the never aging fitness freak and coach Ruju Desai, our inhouse Naraaz Kavishri Chandresh Makwana and others.
Vibes of India thanks Abhay Mangaldas for hosting us at the not to miss heritage space Mangalbag Gallery and Residency, Ahmedabad’s most respected art curator Anil Relia for hosting us at Amdavad ni Gufa, an original idea of internationally acclaimed painter, the barefoot art fakir M F Hussain and the young Kartikeya Rajput for hosting us at the swanky Urban Chowk on Sindhu Bhavan Road.
