The Oshiwara police in Mumbai have apprehended two individuals suspected of robbing actor Anupam Kher’s office. The suspects, identified as Majid Sheikh and Mohammad Daler Bahrim Khan, were arrested in the Jogeshwari area of the city. Both are known serial thieves who operate using auto-rickshaws to facilitate their crimes.
The robbery at Anupam Kher’s office coincided with another theft in Mumbai’s Vile Parle area on the same day, highlighting a spree of criminal activities in the city.
At a separate office located in Mumbai’s Andheri Veera Desai area, the Amboli police have registered a case against an unidentified perpetrator. The case has been filed under sections 454, 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertain to house-breaking and theft. Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.
According to Mumbai police officials, the burglars forcibly entered Anupam’s office premises during the night, making off with cash and valuables totalling approximately ₹4.15 lakh. Anupam Kher himself provided details about the incident on Instagram, stating that two thieves broke through two doors and stole a safe from the accounts department. They also took the negatives of a film produced by the company, which were kept in a box.
Anupam expressed confidence in the police’s ability to capture the culprits soon, as his office promptly filed an FIR. CCTV footage from the scene captured the thieves fleeing in an auto-rickshaw with the stolen items, providing crucial evidence for their identification and subsequent apprehension.
Meanwhile, the actor is set to appear in the upcoming film “Tanvi The Great.”
