Mukesh Ambani Highlights Key Life Lessons and Vision for India’s Growth at PDEU Convocation

| Updated: January 28, 2025 22:13

Reliance Industries Chairman and President of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), Mukesh Ambani, addressed the 12th convocation of the university on Tuesday, sharing life lessons and sharing his vision for India’s future.

Speaking to graduating students, Ambani underscored the importance of passion, lifelong learning, and sustainable development.

In his address, Ambani shared five guiding principles for life, urging students to find their passion and dedicate themselves to it. “Discover your true passion, find what ignites your soul. When you dedicate your energy to something you love, work becomes joy, and challenges become opportunities for growth,” he said.

He emphasised the necessity of lifelong learning in an era of rapid technological advancements. “The willingness to learn continuously is not an option; it is a must for survival and success. Embrace curiosity and never stop learning,” Ambani said.

Ambani encouraged students to share knowledge, highlighting that “knowledge grows when it is shared. By helping others rise, you elevate yourselves and build a community of mutual growth and progress.”

He also stressed the value of meaningful relationships, which he referred to as dil ke rishte (heartfelt connections). “Genuine connections are the foundation of personal and professional success. Build trust, foster respect, and nurture relationships that stand the test of time,” he advised.

The final principle focused on cherishing family bonds. “Family gives purpose and direction to life. It is within the family that you learn values such as care, empathy, and resilience—qualities that will shape your journey to success,” he noted.

Ambani also addressed the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI), cautioning against overdependence on AI tools. “You must be good at using AI as a tool of learning, but do not give up your own critical thinking. We can progress only through our own intelligence, not artificial intelligence,” he told the students.

Discussing India’s future, Ambani expressed confidence that the nation would emerge as the most prosperous in the world before the end of the century. “India will become the third-largest economy, and no power on Earth can stop our growth trajectory. However, this growth must not endanger the planet,” he said.

Ambani emphasised the need to accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to clean and green energy, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the greenest nation. “Green technologies and enterprises can reverse ecological degradation and make our planet more livable for future generations,” he said, urging PDEU to focus on research in areas like bio-energies and the intersection of green energy, green materials, and AI.

Uday Kotak, founder and director of Kotak Mahindra Bank, was the chief guest at the event. In his speech, Kotak advised students to focus on excellence rather than financial gains. “Whatever you do in life, keep a focus on quality and excellence. Financial results will be an outcome of the deep satisfaction you will enjoy,” he said.

Kotak also recommended that PDEU introduce finance courses, emphasising the growing importance of the finance and technology sector. “Time has come for finance, especially with the amalgamation of finance and technology,” he added.
