The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, will host the beginning of the 71st Miss Universe pageant. The eagerly anticipated beauty pageant will take place, featuring Divita Rai, Miss Universe India, among the more than 86 women competing for the title of Miss Universe on January 14.
Harnaaz Sandhu, the Indian contestant who won Miss Universe in December 2021, will crown the beauty pageant’s winner. Big Freedia and Big Sam’s Funky Nation, two musical groups from New Orleans, will perform throughout the evening. American fiddler Amanda Shaw will also exhibit her skills on the violin. Tank And The Bangas and Yolanda Adams are some additional performers.
“The city of New Orleans and the Miss Universe Organisation share common values of celebrating inclusion, culture and the empowerment of women,” New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell said in a statement in September 2022.
The 2023 Miss Universe competition will begin at 6:30 am (Indian Standard Time) on January 15 or Saturday, January 14 at 8 pm (ET).
The major event will be broadcast from the Ernest N. Morial Convention in New Orleans. In addition to streaming it on VIACOM 18-owned Voot, viewers in India can watch the gala event live on the official Facebook and YouTube accounts for the JKN18 channel.
After Steve Harvey’s five-year reign as host, Olivia Culpo, a former Miss Universe, and TV personality Jeannie Mai Jenkins will take over this year. On January 12, the national preliminary competition was held.
