Bad Student-Teacher Ratio Pulls MS University Down In The NIRF 2022 Overall Ranking

| Updated: July 16, 2022 09:58

The prestigious MS University of Vadodara, Gujarat has fallen from figuring in the 101 to 150 slot last year to 151 to 200 this time in the NIRF overall ranking.

MS University fared badly in the NIRF’s national ranking framework, MS University due to its adverse student-teacher ratio. Thanks to mass promotion due to the Covid pandemic, the number of students increased, which in turn affected the student-teacher ratio. The benchmark is 1 teacher for every 25 students whereas, in MS University, there is 1 teacher for every 36 students. It means that MS University is short of at least 550 teachers.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2022 rankings announced by the Union Government’s Ministry of Education mention IIT Madras retaining the Top Spot whereas IIM- Ahmedabad is found Best in MBA. As many as 6,000 colleges and universities participated in the ranking in the 11 categories which include overall, university, management, college, pharmacy, medical, engineering, architecture, ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), law and research institutions.

The ranking framework judges institutions under five broad generic groups of parameters of Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR), Research and Professional Practice (RP), Graduation Outcomes (GO), Outreach and Inclusivity (OI) and Perception (PR).
